WL Distillery, having established itself as an award-winning distiller, is poised to expand its product range, the markets it serves, and the opportunities it provides for employment and promotion of the North East of England and the UK. 

We are seeking funding to accelerate our expansion plans, augment our organic growth, and in order to gain access to grants and other available matched funding.

We believe that we are truly blessed in the North East to be surrounded by so much nature, culture, tradition, drive and ambition. It was these assets and my own memories of spending long summers in my grandad’s garden, eating fruit from the bushes and trees as I basked in the sun, and bonding with family, friends and community,  that inspired me to set up WL Distillery in 2019.

I hold firm to the belief that it is our experiences and the surroundings that help make us who we are, and that shape and influence our business practices and the products we produce. I have tried to ensure that the best of these characteristics are infused into every bottle produced by our distillery. From start to finish our spirits are expertly crafted, we nurture every part of the process from selecting handpicked local ingredients to hand-labelled sustainable packaging. This means no two bottles are exactly the same other than for their character and outstanding quality.

Even allowing for the interruption to production brought on by the pandemic, which saw us switch to the production of hand sanitizer, we have successfully established WL Distillery as an award-winning small-batch Gin producer. 

Having proven our business model, and the quality of our product and established our brand, we feel that now is the perfect time for us to be expanding and diversifying our business. 

We are looking to expand in terms of production volume, the markets we serve and the range of spirits and products that we produce. Our plans (which are covered in more detail in this document) are that as well as extending our award-winning Gin products we will introduce into our portfolio Vodkas and products that need maturation namely Rum and Whisky. We will also investigate low to no-alcohol products.

Whisky in particular, due to the financial and time commitment required, is seen as a significant long-term investment in our brand, and the Company's future. We see Whisky as a product that is valuable in allowing WL Distillery to become as identifiable as being from the North East as the Angel of The North is today, both nationally and internationally.

You may have heard the romantic term “The Angels share”, which is used to describe the annual rate of whisky lost during the cask maturation process, a process that adds to the flavour, character and individuality of the spirit and of course its value. We like to think of this as being a great metaphor for an Investment in WL Distillery, as your own “Angel Shares”.
